Dream Interpretation - Interpreting the Meaning of Dreams

I know there are a lot of dream interpretation posts out there, but this is a subject that I'm very passionate about. For as long as I can remember I've had incredibly vivid dreams featuring full color, touch, taste, smell, the feel of the breeze against my skin, background music, and sometimes even commercials! Early on in my life I was plagued by nightly nightmares which were often recurring and always disturbing. At the age of 12, I reached a personal breakthrough in my dream world when I learned that, with practice and positive thinking, I can control the outcome of my dreams. From that point on my dream life improved dramatically, significantly reducing the insomnia I had suffered for my entire life until that day. Now, at the age of 34, I have many years of dream study under my belt. I have spent most of my life reading books and studying the meaning of my dreams as well as those of my friends and I wanted to share that experience with you.

The area of dream analysis is incredibly vast and the meaning of one dream symbol can, in itself, have a large number of possible interpretations depending on the context and mood of the dream. I wanted to start off the dream discussion with a list of what we dream about most often and what those dreams mean. I hope this will be the first in a long series of dream interpretation posts that will delve even deeper into the images I mention to follow as well as exploring many others.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams with Animals

Animals pop up everywhere in our lives and, in turn, in our dreams. The subject of what animals mean in our dreams is as large as the number of animals there are to dreams about. Wild animals usually symbolize a sense of power or perhaps even a feeling of being out of control and domestic animals can mean the opposite a feeling of being "trained" or out of control. I could probably write ten pages in the impact of animals on dream interpretation alone. However, for this post, I will try to stick to addressing only a few of the most common.

Dream Interpretation - The Lion

The appearance of a lion in your dream usually symbolizes a feeling of raw strength, pride, power, or kingship. If you are the lion or the lion is your ally these symbols are most likely referring to something within yourself. Do you feel powerful and strong?

If the Lion is attacking you or someone you know takes on the appearance of a lion, the your subconscious might be trying to draw your attention to a danger that your conscious mind has yet to recognize. Look at what else is going on in your dream or at the person taking on the dream shape and then take a closer look at what aspect of your life you think they are pointing to.

Dream Interpretation - The Dog

A dog appearing in your dream usually signifies exactly what dogs stand for, devotion and faithfulness. Did you have a dream about your husband playing with a dog? If you did, you probably feel pretty secure in your relationship. Unless of course, you hate dogs... then you have a whole different issue!

Dream Interpretation - The Cat

Cats are known for their mysterious nature, their independence, and their leisurely comfortable life. Wouldn't it be great to live the life of a cat? Lying around on comfortable chairs, then eating food prepared for you by your man servant before sunning yourself at a window with a beautiful view while you enjoy a nap? If your dreaming about cats, the image of the cat in your dream could be referring to just that. You could either be seeking or relaxed cat-like life or you are enjoying the fact that you already have it.

Dream Interpretation - Some more animal symbology includes:

  • Horse - Intelligence, strength, athletics, nobility
  • Butterfly - Beauty, capriciousness, transformation
  • Cow - slowness, maternity or motherhood, calmness
  • Monkey - Mischief and playfulness
  • Mule - Stubbornness, having a heavy load to bear physically or emotionally
  • Pig- Dirtiness, greed
  • Rabbit - the desire for playfulness, the urge to have children
  • Snake - Poisonous thoughts or actions, deceitfulness

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about Falling

Falling dreams are a very common occurrence in dreams and one of those most talked about. While these dreams are usually scary, they may not always mean something. The body goes through cycles all night long, cycling between several different phases. As the body transcends into a deeper state of sleep, the complete relaxation of the body can often feel like falling. Many of have even experienced this sensation as we first drift off to sleep at night and it's quite common for your body to respond to this feeling with a reflexive jump that wakes you from sleep. That jump was the body's effort to try to protect itself from the impact it was expecting to come at the end of the imaginary falling sensation.

However, falling in a dream can also reveal something significant about your life. This type of dream most commonly occurs when a person feels like they have failed at something or when they feel overwhelmed by the their current circumstances. If you are having trouble sleeping due to common dreams of falling try sleeping with a pillow or other cushion pressed against your feet at night. The sensory stimulation to the soles of your feet will give your body the sensation of security and stability and has been known to drastically reduce the occurrence of falling dreams.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about a House or Apartment

Dreaming about a house or apartment is almost as big a subject as animals. But, dwellings of some sort show up in most dreams so it is definitely worth covering some of their possible meanings here.

  • Dreams being at home - Home is where you go to feel safe and comfortable. If you are in your own house or apartment you may be going there unconsciously to give your mind the opportunity to work through some difficult or chaotic activities that are happening in the outside world.
  • Dreams about an unfamiliar house - These houses usually represent some aspect of you and can often be looked at as a physical extension of yourself. As you look at this house consider how it might relate to where you are in life right now. A big house may be trying to telling that you should expand your horizons. If you have taken on a big project that you are worried about being able to keep up with, you may dream about living in a mansions but being stressed about the maintenance of it.
  • Building a house - dreams about building a house could be you're looking for more security in your life or expand on the life's foundation which you have already laid. This is a great time to start thinking about your future, your subconscious is already trying to tell you what you want and it will be easier to get in touch with that and decide your next big move.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about Flying

Flying Dreams are one of the most common dreams. Almost everyone experiences a dream that involves flying at least once in their life while some dream about flying nightly. There has been a lot of speculation over the years about why we experience flying dreams so commonly. Some cultures even believe that individuals who are highly attuned to their spiritual side can have out of body experiences during sleep, and these dreams are actually memories of your spirit projecting itself and exploring during the night.

Dreams tend to show us our fears and hopes. So it is first important to consider how you felt during your dream about flying. If you felt happy or joyful during this dream, it may be reflecting a recent transcendence in your life. You've recently overcome a difficult situation or successfully gotten past an event that was worrying you. In these cases, the dream is reminded you to rejoice and enjoy your moment of victory. Your dream may also be drawing from a general feeling of peace and happiness in your life that has been ongoing for a while. If this is the case, congratulations! Relax and enjoy the sites as your dream takes you exploring.

Dream Interpretation - Dream Fact

Your body needs to dream to survive. When deprived of R.E.M. sleep, people begin to come depressed, anxious, nauseated, and irritable within a few days and can eventually descend into a full blown psychosis.

If you experience a feeling of fear during you flying dream your mind maybe attempting to give itself an inner exposure therapy treatment. This type of treatment, often used by psychiatrists to treat individuals with severe phobias focuses around confronting your fear. In this case you may likely have a fear of heights, falling (see more about falling above), or even vertigo (the sense of being dizzy). While these dreams can often be disturbing there is a way to overcome them. Dreams about fears will cease once you have faced the fear and successfully negotiated the dream. Find a mantra that's meaningful to you, such as "In my dreams I have wings, and can control my flight and go where I choose, no harm can come to me." and repeat this to yourself as you are falling asleep each night. In this was you can control the outcome of your dream and turn the feeling of fear to a feeling of joy as you embrace the experience and grow past it.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about Death

The interpretation of dreams about death is highly subjective depending on the dreamers personal feeling about death and their religious beliefs. Often time, people dream about death in the process of coming to terms with their own mortality. If the dream includes a feeling of fear or anxiety, your subconscious mind may be trying to tell you that you need to come to terms with your own mortality. Life is a gift, but it's only temporary and, as many people believe, only a stepping stone to the next life. Whether the next life for you is eternity in heaven or rebirth to live life again, your body knows that you need to be comfortable with the idea that you are not going to stay in this life forever.

Once you come to terms with this fact, your dreams may evolve into dreams, that still include death, but are now based around the celebration of a good life and happy memories. If you've reached this stage in your death dreams, Congratulations! You're subconscious is recognizing you and celebrating your own spiritual growth.

If you dream about a loved one dying, you may literally be afraid of their inevitable death or you might be experiencing a feeling of insecurity. Perhaps you're afraid that you're spouse is going to leave you or you children are about to move out of the house or head off to college. On a happier note, if the person you are dreaming about has recently made a change and eliminated a particular personality trait that you disliked, you might be celebrating it's passing from your life.
And remember, no matter what the old wives tales might tell you. If you die in your dream you don't die in life. Don't let your fear of death wake up and stop you from moving forward to fully see what your dream is trying to tell you.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about Water

Water is frequently considered a symbol for your emotions when it is present in a dream. Most people can tell exactly your dream water is symbolizing simply by remember how you felt during the dream when you looked at the water in question. Here are some hints when considering your water dreams.

  • Large Bodies of Water - Oceans and seas usually represent our vast and complex emotional mind. A stormy sea may represent a feeling of turmoil while a sunny sailboat trip can signify a feeling of freedom and the ability to explore your own feelings without restraint.
  • Rivers - A river in your dream can represent your emotional journey either through life or through the current situation. The state of this river will also tell you have strong and out of control your emotions are or how restrained you might be in experiencing those emotions. If you are trying to cross the river in your dreams, your own emotions may be getting in the way of where you want to go with your life. Take some time to look at how you feel about a decision, are those feelings holding you back?
  • Muddy Water - If water represents your emotions, muddy water represents your emotions when they aren't cleaned properly! Your emotions may be confused or unhealthy, you may even being having harmful thoughts and suffering from depression. Take a good look at yourself when you have this dream.
  • Where are you and where is the water? - If you are in the water then you are at probably one with your emotions. Or are you attempting to avoid your feelings completely by skirting around the edge?
  • Drowning - What would a water section be if I didn't mention drowning? You may be able to figure this one out for yourself by now but I'll sum it up for you anyway. Feeling overwhelmed by your emotions? I bet you are, a dream about drowning most often has absolutely nothing to do with drowning at all. Instead it tell of a struggle between you and your own subconscious mind as you try to take control of your emotions. Who's winning the battle? Do you make it out of the water or actually drown?

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about being Chased

Ah, the famous "I'm being chased" dream. These dreams are very powerful and are one of the most common causes of kicking your partner in your sleep. So what does it all mean? Usually in running dreams you are running from someone or something that you are extremely afraid of. You should stop, turn around and take a good look at what it is your running from because it's probably yourself or, more accurately, some part of yourself that you don't like.

The interpretation of dreams about being chased is a varied as there are possibilities in pursuers. If someone is trying to rape you, you might be afraid of or feel guilty about having sex. If you're being chased by an animal go back up and read about animals again. Do you have qualities of that animal in yourself that you don't like?

The good (sort of) news about dreams about being chased is that they are frequently recurring. This is a great opportunity to practice the ability to control your dreams. We all have this ability, and if you can harness it and turn around and face your attacker boldly, you will overcome this inner struggle quicker both in your dreams and in life.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams with Cars

The first step in deciphering a car dream is taking a good look at what kind of car it is. if you are driving a fancy sports car may indicate that you have a sense of success or power in your life or someone else you know may be telling you that you feel that person has power over you. Driving an off road vehicle may be your mind trying to tell you that you are long overdue for an adventure and a sedan or SUV may indicate the opposite, that you are ready to settle down and maybe even start a family.

If you dream of being in a car accident, it may be an indicator of very serious problems in your life. The size of the accident is normally proportionate to the size of the problem. Hopefully you have this dream early enough that you can use it as a warning for the impending problem in your life. Take a good look at who else was in the accident, especially who was in the other car.

Dream Interpretation - Dream Fact

Research has shown that we start dreaming while we're still in the womb!! Using advanced fetal monitoring equipment, Doctors have witnessed babies experiencing R.E.M. sleep patterns during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about being Lost

A lot of times, dreams about being lost are quite simply a representation of feeling lost in your waking life. A person can be lost in many ways including loneliness, confusion, loss, or even lost in a new town. Before you go to far into trying to understand what else this dream might mean, consider your life and see if there are any aspects of your life that are making you feel lost right now.

Dreams about mazes or labyrinths often indicate confusion over a choice or series of choices you have to make. As you travel down turn after turn the outcome of your choice of turns could indicate just how deep your level of confusion runs. Did you reach the end after only a few choices or are you still trying to find your way out?

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about being Naked

Although I've never personally had a dream about being naked unless it's as part of the subject coming after this one, my reading tell me almost everyone else has. This is a difficult theme to interpret because it is highly dependent on your culture and how you personally feel about nudity. For this short post we'll focus on the western society and the idea that public nudity is a bad thing and suddenly finding yourself out in public with no clothes on can be quite a shock to the system

If you find yourself in one of these embarrassing situations while you sleep you are most likely expressing a feeling of vulnerability or exposure. Students who dream or showing up at school naked are most like feeling vulnerable at school, perhaps they are the target of the class bully or maybe they uncomfortable with themselves and how they feel they compare to their classmates. Businessmen who stand up in the board room to give a speech naked may be feeling the pressure of an upcoming project or delivery weighing heavily on the future of their job.

For those of you who embrace public nudity and have no feelings of anxiety during your dream. This is a very positive image dealing with openness and honesty. If your significant other is hanging around you with no clothes on throughout a dream, in a non-sexual nature, then you most likely enjoying your trust in them. On the other hand if it's you that is naked then you are likely to be rejoicing your openness with the people also involved in your dream or even the world.

Dream Interpretation - Dreams about Sex

And finally, dreams about sex. I saved this one for last because I knew it would be the most fun to write about, and think about... (ahem). Interpreting dreams about sex are yet another highly subjective topic that varies greatly based on the person. This dream can mean something different depending both on how you felt during the dream and how you feel about sex in general.

First of all, regardless of what your priest might say, the endorphins released when you achieve an orgasm are a great source of stress release and are also craved by your body. Your dream about sex may simply mean that it's just been to long and your body is tantalizing itself into releasing those endorphins without physical assistance. So before you try to analyze what your dream might mean, keep that in mind.

Fantasies - Many, many... way too many people have unfulfilled fantasies. If you dream about sex in a new and daring way, this could be your subconscious way of fulfilling your own fantasies especially if those fantasies are illegal or dangerous or simply against your moral fiber. Dreaming about them won't lead to the complications that actually performing them might.

How often do you dream about sex?

  • Rarely
  • Once a month
  • Once a week
  • More often than I care to admit
See results without voting

Sexual Problems - You may be experiencing problems in your current sex life. Your mind may be trying to deal with going to long without a partner or work through some issues you are having in bed with your current partner. But sexual problems in dreams don't always translate directly into sexual problems in life. I always know when I'm ready to move on from a relationship because, every time, I dream of the man I'm seeing suddenly having a pencil thin penis. This isn't just because he's not satisfying me in bed, that may not even be the case. But he is always not satisfying my emotional needs.

Adolescence - This is probably the time in our live when dreams of a sexual nature are most prevalent. There really is no interpretation here other than the obvious one. You are discovering yourself sexually. Whether those dreams involve feelings of fear or anxiety about losing your virginity or endless nights of pleasure as your try new and different things in your sleep. Those dreams are most likely reflecting exactly how you feel in life.

I posted this dream on Yahoo! Answers and someone suggested I come here with my dream:

Over the past year or so I've had at least three dreams where I saw the Harry Potter stories as an animated cartoon. In one dream, I was watching it as a TV series. (Harry was flying on a broom.) Last night, I dreamed my maternal cousin Jeff and I were in my late paternal grandfather's house (now owned by my sister Becky). In the dining room, Jeff was watching a cartoon movie on DVD on a large wood-paneled TV. I saw what looked like Harry, Hermione, and Ron crossing the Hogwarts campus in the evening. I asked, "Is that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?" He said yes. I was bothered that he may have had an illegal advanced copy, but then I "realized" that this was the cartoon version which had been created before the live-action series.Of course, in real life no such cartoon exists, to my knowledge. (Actually, I looked on YouTube just now, and they once had a pilot Harry Potter cartoon, but it was removed from the website.)I only got into the movies two years ago, and have just read the first six books in the last two months. The cartoon in my dreams has a style similar to serious Hanna-Barbera (think Jonny Quest), mild anime (think Winx Club), or closest to the animated The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. So why am I having these dreams? Am I forecasting the next wave of Harry Potter, maybe ten years from now? What are these dreams saying to me, or about me?Addendum: significant events:1) My other sister Elena died of cancer November 2008. In July 2007, I went to the local B&N for a taste of "Deathly Hallows Eve"--the release of the seventh book--and Elena was there with some of her children, one of whom is a Harry Potter fanatic.2) I've just now (Summer 2009) started an intense teacher training program, pursuing a masters degree in Adolescent Education. Elena had been in a different masters program for Elementary Ed, but received her degree posthumously.

The Harry Potter books and movies represent a sense of adventure and change for it's viewers and readers. Harry Potter is taking a turn from his once drab existence into something new and exciting, unlocking potential that he only dreamed of having in his former life. Since you started having your dreams only a year before embarking down a career path by starting school, I imagine you were already considering the possibilities for your life and your subconcious was trying to work through them along with you. Starting school, as you have, is an adventure for everyone and you never know exactly where that road will lead you but you hope for the best and move forward much like Potter and his friends did. I believe your mind made the connection to Potter and his experiences at school because you were yourself heading down a path of education both for yourself and eventually instructing students the same age as Harry and his friends. Plus, it sounds like you've become quite a bit of a Harry Potter fan and it is fairly common to dream about things we have on our mind that doesn't mean these dreams are meaningless reproductions of our thoughts but it does make that image easier for your mind to draw from.

So why is it a cartoon? I think perhaps as your future goals just beginning to unfold they may not seem completely real to you yet. Cartoons are based in make believe and your subconcious may be communicating a sense of uncertainty that everything you desire will come to fruition. I think as you progress down your path and gain confidence in your education and future career opportunities, you may see your dreams begin to transform into live action figures or you may even witness their graduation from Hogwarts.

You mention someone named Jeff watching the Harry Potter cartoon on TV in your dream and how you felt about that. But you didn't mention who Jeff is in relation to you. Is this person a spectator to your life? Carefully watching everything you do but not actively participating? You said that you were bothered by him having an advanced copy but realized it was actually released earlier. This suggests to me that you might feel Jeff has more confidence in you than you do for yourself.

Quiline: your analysis makes sense to me.

I did say who Jeff was in my description. He's my maternal cousin, my mother's sister's son. He's a few years younger than I, married with a daughter, and lives in upstate NY. (I live in Queens, and so did he as a child.) He and his brother were into monster movies as kids (such as King Kong or Godzilla; we are middle-aged now). Like me, he's an aspiring writer. I don't know how he feels about Harry Potter.

i just had a dream last night about a guy that i really like...he's taken but i can't stop liking him...anyways...in the dream i invited some people to my house and one of those people was him and he got there first. we were in the living room and my dad was there and he wasn't asking my crush a bunch of questions or anything like he normally would and my dad was talking on the phone and the TV was on. then my dad turned the TV off and my crush put a movie that i have in to watch (it's called Ice Castles) and i told him it was a really good movie. then i went in my room to get something and my crush came with me and suddenly two other girls that i invited over were there and one of them was trying to take pictures of me and my room but i turned the lights off because i didn't want here to take any and my crush kept closing the door whenever it would open up again. then he told me to come over to him (the lights are still off) and then he kissed me. then the dream skipped to another day in band at school and i was trying to tell my friend lauren about what happened with me and my crush and i don't think i ever really got to by the time i woke up

I had a dream last night - I was in a wooded surrounding and there was a barn or mill like structure that was a constant in the dream. I was being chased by a godzilla-like creature, except he was black and a little smaller than the godzilla from the movies. It was day time. I tried to avoid him and dodge him and get away, but he kept coming at me. I'm curious about the meaning of the godzilla like creature as the hunter.

Hi, I don't remember everything in my dream, but I'll do my best in giving you the details. Ok in the beginning my husband and I were in a living room like setting having sex. We weren't naked though, I think that had to do with us knowing my brother was in the other room and not wanting to be caught.I just remember I kept switching sexual positions trying ti get as much sex in as I could. It felt so good and I was happy we were together! To be in his arms I felt safe.Next my dream went to me being at my moms townhouse...I was sleeping in my old room, I woke up everything was dark. I walked to my brothers room to check on him. he was lying there sleeping sweating something told me he was sick. I went to the bathroom to get a wash cloth. My mom knocked on the door and said Jackie, your brothers sick, get him a cool wash cloth. I told her that I already was. Than my dream flashed where I seen a white horse with wings no horn...so it wasn't a unicorn...but it was running gracefully by me. It was beautiful! I was amazed to see something such as that! My surroundings were blurry in my dream though. Next thing I know is my dream flashed to myself and son being underground in a sewer like setting. Like we were there watching these men, but they couldn't see us..I remember there was dark looking water, but I wasn't stepping in it. It was like I was watching while floating? What I seen next disturbed me...that same beautiful horse was lying in the sewer water on its side..I was trying to figure out if its alive still..or just hurt? Also what was weird is these men down there supposedly kidnapped my son, so I wanted him back. But keep in mind...my son was with me in my dream...it was like that movie screwged...where the ghosts take him to his past. Except myself and son weren't ghosts from what I can recall.. also I wanted the horse, I wanted the horse to be ok! As well as I wanted my son! Something told me I can't have both! I had to choose one or the other..but I heard the voice...no one was actually speaking to me. So I chose my son! After I chose my son..I didn't actually see him to get him back it was like he was there with me the whole time! I mean he was!..because we were the outsiders watching...but when I wanted him back I was looking to see if I could see him. But I didn't, it was like he returned to me spiritually! I was relieved to have him return to me and safe. I was saddened by leaving the horse...as my son and I were leaving, I seen a skeleton from ribs to skull up lying in the yucky sewer water. The same guy who kidnapped my son was holding the skeleton halfway up above the water like scraping the bones or something. Next to him he had like a wooden crate filled with organs...I didn't see them..I just knew they were there. I guess they killed people. And would sell their parts. That's why I was so glad to get my son back...it was weird how easily I got him back without harm coming to either one of us. We left..then my dream flashed to me being at work. My position for that day was cash register, there's two. My co- worker was to the left of me on that register. We had no customers. I opened the drawer right under the cash register and there was a stack of photos. They were mine, I knew in my dream that I had placed them there!I took them out excitedly to show my co-worker I just remember her smiling. I first pulled them out and layed the stack in a line acrossed the counter there were soo many pictures I only recall seeing two different stacks! Pictures of my son and pictures of my husband. They were sephia in color. I remember looking at my husbands photos. He was smiling, I was sad because I miss him. I than looked through the stack of my son, his pictures he was smiling in all of them as well and I just smiled. Some of his photos I had doubles..I was sorting through the pictures of my son and the ones I had doubles of I was giving to my co worker. She just had the biggest smile on her face as I handed her my doubles. That's the end of my dream! Pretty strange!

Here's some background info on me that should help!

I'm married just over 6 years now. I have a 5 year old son! He's starting school tomorrow I'm nervous, ill miss him. I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant. My husband just went away to prison this past Feb of 2010. We knew he was going away, but didn't expect it to be minimum of 5 years!!! :'(

When I was 29 weeks pregnant I went on maternity leave, no pay though. I worked for jimmy johns. I have no income as of now and I'm trying to get assistance from the state. I'm stressed out because I have no money for bills. My mother in-law sent me money a few days ago to help me out with bills. Also before my husband went away he told my 17 year old brother he can come live with me if he wants while he's gone. My brother was going down the wrong path and my mom sent him to M.Y.C.A. its a boot camp/ school. My brother completed it and moved in with me June 2010.

Hope this helps!!

Thank you!

I can only remember this one part of my dream, but I dreamed I had a penis and it either got cut off or fell off, I cannot remember.

For some background information, I am a bisexual girl in my late teens, who has been in a relationship with a boy for a little over a year now. Slightly over two years ago I dated a girl who was three years older than me for 7 months, and she cheated on me with the student acting teacher. I've had extremely bizarre dreams since I was very very little, I don't think I've ever had a generic naked in public type of dream. I also have sex related dreams quite often, if that helps at all.

In my dream I saw a parking lot, it was not full there were 4 or 5 vehicles. My ex-boyfriend was in his truck driving into the lot and parked, I drove past him and parked. Then I saw him, my ex, walk to the passenger side of my vehicle. He had a present for me. I noticed he was wearing a white t-shirt. Next

Curt, my ex, was in the front seat and he opened the present with me. I was happy he had a hat for me, but the hat was unusual. The hat was in the shape of head of a brown bear and had a scarf flowing from it. It was a furry hat. It looked warm and I was happy he had this gift for me. Next he was wearing a blue Hawain looking shirt with beautiful hues of blue, I really liked the shirt very much. I was very happy and felt so much love from him and his face signaled to me he was very much in love with me, as I do still love him. I remember seeing sparkles around us and on his face. I woke up.

Is my dream a psychic message of the future. I do so want to be with Curt, but we have not spoken in a month, we have been seperated for three months. What could my dream be telling me, HELP PLEASE!

Six Most Common Dream Symbols

Every time we go to sleep we dream. When we wake up we may or may not remember the dreams that we had during the time of rest, however, I'm pretty sure that every person on this planet can remember at least one dream. I'm a student in the School of Metaphysics and I have learned that dreams are symbolic. Just like cave drawings and hieroglyphics the images when put together form a story and can be interpreted to reveal specific messages to the dreamer. I have also learned the symbols and their meanings in our night time dreams are Universal. The School of Metaphysics in the United States established and teaches a language that's relevant to every individual. This language is the Universal Language of Mind.

I have learned in the school that there are two rules to remember when it comes to interpreting dreams. Number one, every dream is about the dreamer and the second, everyone and everything in the dream is the dreamer.

Here are the six most common dream symbols referenced in the Dreamer's Dictionary by Dr. Barbara Condron and their meanings:

1. People - represent aspects of Self, they represent you and the different qualities that make up you.

2. Marriage - symbolizes a commitment between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind for the fulfillment of desires.

3. Babies - they represent new ideas.

4. Houses - represent the dreamer's mind.

5. Water - represents conscious life experiences.

6. Food - represents knowledge.

Since 2003 I have been recording my night time dreams and I have remembered my dreams almost every night. In almost every one of my dreams I have people, three out of the seven nights I usually recall a house and at least once a week I'm either growing food, preparing food or eating food. For more information as to how these symbols apply to your life and other facts about dreams please visit www.dreamschool.org.

I keep having dreams about my husband leaving me. In the dreams it's not that he has found someone else but because he just feels bored with me. We have been having some problems but this started before the problems. We have been together since jr year and we are 21 now. He left me once when I was pregnant with our now 11 month old daughter. Also adding to my stress I'm 4 days late. Any ideas?

I had a dream last night that I lost my virginity. I'm 14 and I've never had sex. In the dream I was walking somewhere late at night and then the next thing i knew I was in like a house full of rooms and people having sex. I couldn't find my friend anywhere. I asked this guy where I was and he was like 'are you being serious? this is a rape house' and I was shocked. He was sort of comforting in a way and I 'fell in love' with him. I knew his name he was called Mark. He said 'you'd probably be better suited with one of the other guys, and I was scared to leave him, there were drunk people everywhere, I said 'No I want you mark.' So he took me to his room, I took my clothes off and so did he, I lay on top of him and then we had sex and there was blood all over the bed. I didn't know what the blood was he said 'See, I was hard enough to break the tissue' I didn't know what he was talking about and still don't know. It was fast and it hurt a bit at the beginning. He then told me he was 37 years old. I didn't want to leave him, suddenly everyhting that mattered before had disappeared and he was all that mattered. I felt safe with him. Then I woke up. I don't know what all of this means but I was really wondering what it means, please tell me, I'm a bit confused.

I had a dream that I went for a night out with my friends and was enjoying, when suddenly I realized that my car keys were missing. To my astonishment, my best friend’s friend had taken them. He took the keys to the car which was parked to a small lake. He then started the engine and had left the car to drown. The water seemed very quiet. The color was also normal. I then got panicky and started running towards the car but I wasn’t able to stop the incident. My friends were also there and were watching everything when this incident happened. Since this dream some of my friends who were there in the dream has started ignoring me a lot. WHen asked they just answer everything is alrite. Please help and thanking you in advance and waiting for an early reply.

Last night I had the weirdest dream I have ever had.

At first I was being chased by somene, but I cant remember who, just As I was running out of breath I reach the back of my house (even though it looks completely different) And then I see this group of girls land with their fying brooms, I still have adreneline running in my veins even though it seems like no one is after me anymore. I walk up to them and i sa , "D you have to have magic to fly one, or if anyone can." and they are like, Anyone can, because everyone has a little magic in them.' SO they show how to sit and say just to take a running start and jump, and it would work. SO The first few times are disasterous, and the last time, I hover for few second before falling to the ground. I turn my attention to my grandparents car (since I live with my granparents) and someone guy with a a red and lack plaid shirt is underneath working on it. I walk over and say, "hey! what do you think your doing to my grandpa's truck?" so scoots out from underneath, and its the most gorgeous boy I had ever seen, he is about to say something when I wake up.

I had a dream that my husband pinned a grey and white snake ( a portion of it- head area) under a clear glass. The glass looked like one you would get in a resturant for orange juice. He then cut off the snakes head and the entire time I was telling him to leave the snake alone. After he cut the head off he picked it up and was taunting me with it right in my face. I just kept thinking your an idiot and waked away from him. What does this mean?

I had a dream that I was riding a horse along some kind of long jetty, there were a lot of other people riding horses too but I couldn't tell who they were or even really see them I could just sense they were there. The jetty turned a big curve and then was broken and there was a wide gap with just the still clear sea underneath, the jetty continued further on, everyone tried to jump across the gap to reach the other side. Most horses/people made it but every single time my horse and I couldn't jump far enough and fell into the water. After 3 goes we just swam to sure and it didn't feel too bad. It wasn't scary. Then I realised my horse was a person but It was still horse (not sure how that works) and I said to myself that person is really handsome. What does this all mean!

Ok do my bf and I are almost 4 months into our relationship, we recently talked about how we are falling inlove with eachother and lately I've been having dreams with him in them ever since.

First dream we were in our own place I had two twin girls had to get them dressed and ready for the day my mother called me crying for $63 bucks and I said let me get them dressed it felt so real and than my bf woke me up.

Second dream I was basically on a game show kinda like the bachelorette where every week I would hangout with a different guy 4 total but after that week there was no communication aloud so at the end I had to choose who I wanted 2 I said no off the bat and than I battled to decide my bf and this other guy but at the end I choose my bf bc when I kissed the other guy I saw his face.

Now the third one everything is a little fuzzy but I Remeber that I he had died and I was historical in the dream really badly saying I can never find anyone else and my live is empty again, in the dream I found out he died bc they took him to the hospital for something an he ran out and from that he died.

What does this all mean?!? Ever since we talked about us falling for eachother I've had these dreams the death one really frightens me please help!

Hey I was hoping you could help me understand a couple things, iv had 2 dreams in the last month that disturbed me to the point where once I was awake afterwords, going back to sleep wasn't an option for me. And oddly enough both dreams involved zombies.

The first, happened about 2 weeks ago. I was part of a group of survivors and we were trying to get to a safespot on the other side of town, the dream started as we were raiding a house and killed a man who wasn't a zombie and took his weapons. As we left the back door of the house a semi truck passed us and went Round a corner. We followed. On the next street the semi was broke down in the middle of the road and both sides of the street were on fire. But before the fire there were chainlink fences with barbed wire on top. We had fought our way through the street and we climbed atop an elevated platform at the end of the street where we became surrounded. This is where I was really confused, without waking up the dream would start over, we'd raid the house again, see the semi, everything. Only sometimes the weapons would have no ammo. The only constants were the restart points. The streets of fire, the fencing, the house, and the semi truck was always hauling fuel. I'm an ex infantryman in the u.s. army but I dont suffer from ptsd and its been 2 years since the last time I even wore the uniform so I don't know if my prior service has anything to do with it.

The second, also dealing with zombies, is I'm seperated from my daughter, who is 2 years old. nd she is with my mother (her grandmother). After what seems like days in my dream of fighting and running from zombies, I come to a room that has clearly been burned badly. At the back of the room in an unscorched chair is the pastor of the church I went to as a kid and as a young man. After talking survival stratigy with him and asking him how his sons arep doing, I look back towards the entryway to the room to see my father and mother in the doorway. My dad is in a wheelchair in the dream, but isn't in one in real life. As I went to talk to them my mother reaches behind herself and grabs my daughters hand and shows my daughter that I'm there Nd im okay. Me and my daughter hold each other as tight as we can and keep our hug going as we watch the door at the front of the room be torn down by the zombies and that's when my dream panned out to an airial view of a coastline with no beach that's connected to a field. Near the coastline looks like a bastion of survivors and the field is flooded with zombies trying to get to the humans, the last thing I see before I wake up is futuristic aircraft bombing the zombies trying to protect the survivors.

I don't understand what these mean but the second dream was one I had tonight and it bugged me so much i went online and found this site. I need to know why I'm having these, I can't get rid of the gutwrenching feeling I have that my daughter isnt okay. She's at her mothers right now and I haven't seen her for a couple days. Thanks for your help please respond

I had a dream this afternoon about being inprisioned in a war torn country. And when I realized what happened I noticed my left hand and foot had been cut off. In the dream I came to In a large theatre and I was speaking to the people in there but they couldn't hear me. Then from a side door my neighbor at school came in and helped carry me out to a parking garage. We saw a red firetruck that we saw the terroist using for gas. the last thing I remember was crawling on the ground with my neighbor on my back as we tried to move towards that red firetruck. My neighbor was dead in the dream I think at that point. When i woke up today I had to check my left foot and hand as it was a terrify dream. I also felt the need to go thank my neighbor. Any Ideas, or am I just crazy?

hi:) my friend has been having these dreams about a man in a garden and these dreams are consistent. to top it off, she thinks this man is real. or could be her one true love. according to the research she had conducted she found out that the garden this "man" was in is apparently a garden in Yale university. recently she came across a picture of him in Google and was ecstatic about her discovery. I have had many interpretations about her dream which is very practical. however i need help with this because she is suffering from insomnia, restlessness and loss of focus. I am afraid that this is just her imagination and her desires to go to Yale. she has no prior traumatic events that could have triggered these dreams. according to her, she suddenly started to get these dreams. oh the name of this "man" is Dave/Dev.he has no resemblance of anybody that she knows or has seen. I hope you can help me with this:)thank you so much!:)
